Often loud and aggressive, geese mate for life and if their mate dies, they will grieve for years; sometimes never taking another mate. Geese are also very loyal to their flock and will work together to protect each other from predators. They are known to be very protective of their young and will fight fiercely to defend them. This behaviour is seen as a reflection of their own spiritual nature. Geese are often used as a symbol of hope and new beginnings. Their migrating behaviour is seen as a sign of hope that the world will continue to renew itself. Their presence is also said to bring good luck and fortune.
