These birds are known for their exceptional ability to fly and their strong homing instinct. Pigeons have been used to carry messages during times of war. Pigeons have 3 toes on each foot instead of the regular 4 toes. They can also drink by sucking the water up instead of using their tongue like most animals. When pigeons drink they tilt their head back and the water goes into their mouth and down their throat. In many cultures, pigeons are seen as symbols of peace, love, and hope.
