Brigid is an ancient Celtic goddess who is known for her power over fire, fertility, and healing. She is a multi-faceted goddess, associated with the element of fire and is often depicted carrying a torch. Brigid is also associated with healing and is sometimes depicted holding a bowl of healing water. She’s a goddess of the hearth and home, and is often invoked for protection and healing. Brigid is also a patroness of poetry and music, and is said to inspire creativity in all who invoke her.  Her festival of Imbolc is celebrated on February 1st, the halfway point between the winter solstice and the spring equinox.

In this spread, we will explore the power that Brigid can help awaken within us.

To do the spread, you will need a tarot or oracle deck and a quiet space to work in. Begin by shuffling your deck and asking Brigid to guide your reading. Then, lay out the cards in the shape of a cross, with the first card placed in the centre.  The second card goes above the first, the third goes to the right, the fourth goes below, and the fifth goes to the left. Once all the cards are in place, take a moment to study the spread and see what story it is telling.
